The one where the new site goes live
Monday, January 25, 2010 at 4:02PM Hello, and welcome to the new site: it's been a long time in the making (I've been lost down the rabbit hole, living in The Distant Hours), but it's here at last, and I think it's a grand place indeed to
hang my cyber hat.
This site was created with much love and skill by the terribly clever (though not, thank goodness, cleverly terrible) Ruth from blink studio, who was able to look at the brief I provided--a long, long list of random things I adore--and conjure it into the textured and gorgeous work of art it is today. I am incredibly grateful for her vision and attention, just as I am for the techno-knowledge and supreme patience of Ed, without whom the whole beautiful thing would fail to behave as it should.
I write fiction so I suppose it's no surprise that I'm far more comfortable slipping behind the voice of a made up person to tell stories and explore my feelings about the world than I am writing in my own. This journal, then, is not a diary and I hereby promise not to bore you with the minutiae of my daily life (though I confess to being very happy to read endless details about other people's lives).
My dream for this journal is that it will become a giant, ever-growing scrapbook: a place to record and to share interesting and inspiring images, memories and news, impressions and ideas, and also to answer questions and comments from you. To which end, please feel free to submit either or both from the FAQ page, over yonder. It might take me a while to answer, but I promise to do my best.
Well then. I suppose there's nothing left to say and I should get on with launching my little boat into the great, world wide sea. May it bob away evermore to its heart's content.
