THE NEW NOTEBOOK. . .
> Inspiring Film Student
Dear Ms. Morton,
What a great book! I love them all, but my 19 year old daughter was so inspired by Distant Hours, that she used a scene from your book for one of her assignments as a sophomore BFA Film Directing student at Purchase College. The assignment was in 2 parts. First, film a scene using dialogue in one continuous take, no editing allowed. Second, film the same scene, using many takes, different actors, different camera angles and edit. You can see her results at
I hope you enjoy her efforts. We both look forward to your next book.

Dear Ms. Morton,
My name is Victoria DeMartin and I am an avid reader of your books and the daughter of Ann DeMartin, who previously posted the note with the student films. I just wanted to thank you so much for taking the time to reply and I am so, so glad that you liked the film adaptations! My last school project was to adapt a suspense scene and I continued to be inspired and captivated by your novels, especially "Distant Hours", so I attempted a student film adaptation of the story behind the "True History of the Mud Man"- which can be seen at https://vimeo.com/41875538
Thank you again for your amazing books and I can't wait for the next one.
