"Ideas are everywhere, and a book is made up of thousands of little ones woven together to form a complete story. My absolute favourite part of the book-writing process is the first stage, during which I think and imagine and scribble in my notebook, writing down everything that interests me, even if it doesn’t seem to belong. Bit-by-bit, from such varied and scrappy inspirations, the story starts to emerge. It's such a wonderful, creative period, unlimited by the need to find the ‘right words’, when the project is filled with possibility and the journey might still lead me anywhere."
